Here’s how Auburn soccer plans to get more goals into the back of the net this season — starting with today’s exhibition at Georgia
Auburn soccer plays its first of two preseason exhibitions Wednesday on the road in Athens.
Before the bus had even left Auburn to start the team’s first road trip this season, Auburn midfielder Kennedy Husbands already knew what she wanted to get out of this afternoon’s exhibition at Georgia.
Yes, Husbands spoke Tuesday at the Auburn Soccer Complex just as the bus was being loaded for departure on the curb outside. The Auburn soccer team then traveled that afternoon to Athens for its first preseason exhibition at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Georgia — and as the bus headed east, the team and coaches carried with them plenty of schemes and plans and checklists of what to accomplish out on the field before the regular season kicks off Aug. 12.
But it’s all easier said than done:
“You can say you can do it and talk about it all you want, but if you don’t put it into action, it doesn’t do anything,” Husbands said.
So that’ll be the main focus for Auburn soccer, in both Wednesday’s preseason exhibition and Saturday’s follow-up exhibition against Georgia Southern at home: to get ideas off the drawing board out onto the field, and to test how they can implement the things they’ve been practicing into games.
After that, of course, the only focus will be on winning.
